Oswaldo Santos Dávalos

He has extensive experience in competition law matters, including advising in proceedings before the Superintendence of Control of Market Power for restrictive practices, unfair practices, and other anti-competitive conducts. He is one of the Non-Governmental Advisors for Ecuador to the International Competition Network.

He has extensive experience in domestic and international arbitration. He has participated in arbitrations under ICSID, UNCITRAL and ICC rules, and in numerous domestic arbitrations. He is an arbitrator of the Arbitration and Mediation Center of the Ecuadorian American Chamber of Commerce, the FEDEXPOR Arbitration and Mediation Center and the Arbitration and Mediation Center of the Universidad de Especialidades Espíritu Santo. He is a legal secretary of three arbitration centers in Quito. He has intervened in dozens of arbitrations. He worked in the arbitration department of Dechert (Paris) LLP, where he participated mainly in the defense of sovereign states in investment and commercial arbitrations.

He is a professor at Universidad San Francisco de Quito, Universidad de Especialidades Espíritu Santo and Universidad Andina Simón Bolívar. He has lectured on Competition Law, Arbitration, Tax Law, Corporate Law, Commercial Law, Tort Law, Theory of Obligations, Introduction to Law and Commercial Contracts, among others.

He is co-founder of the Ibero-American Institute of Law and Finance. He is also a member of the Academic Section of Legal Sciences of the Ecuadorian House of Culture, member of the board of directors of the Ecuadorian Institute of Arbitration, former member of the board of directors of the Ecuadorian Institute of Procedural Law and member of the Ecuadorian Association of Corporate Law. He is the author of several publications in his areas of expertise and has participated as a speaker in dozens of academic events in Ecuador and abroad.
